Octopus vulgaris

The common octopus, Octopus vulgaris, is a highly intelligent creature hunts crabs, mollusks, and other prey it can catch at dusk.

The image is from the book, Kunstformen der Natur by Ernst Haeckel. Haeckel (1834-1919). Haeckel wrote and created more than 100 illustrations for the book. Many of the species he illustrated were first described by him.
